My Digital Practice Journey

Source here.

Welcome to my final post! It's been seven weeks since we started Digital Practice and I honestly can't believe that we've reached the final stage. At this point, I can say for a fact that I learned so many things for this assignment and I definitely enhanced my knowledge and skills, more than I expected.

Before I started writing this post, I sat down and read all my previous posts - from week 1 to week 6 and there many things that I noticed. My way of thinking has changed a lot - I have become more analytical. My latest posts are much longer in length than in the first ones and other than that, I changed the structure of my writing. I do believe that this is because I started understanding the purpose of the course better and I had a lot more to say. However, given that the latest lectures were done online, I feel like I had the need to write everything down and then reflect on them in order to reassure myself that I have acquired all the information taught in the session. Either way, it really helped me express myself more and better understand what I'm doing.

Digital Practice also helped me organize my ideas, the way I put them into words and how I organize them on a paper. For example, my lucid chart during Week 1 is completely different from my lucid chart in week 6.

Week 1 - My Digital Adventure

Week 6 - Transmedia Storytelling

As you can see, the latter is much more organized and clean than the first one. I was honestly really surprised when I noticed it and I couldn’t believe how a few weeks of practice and work can help so much with my organization skills.

Something else that I noticed during the past few weeks, again I don’t know if it’s because of the online lessons, the time it takes me to finish a task is much longer than at the beginning. It is something that really upset me. For example, the last task that we did for the transmedia storytelling, we were supposed to do it in an hour or so and it took me more than a day to finish. Maybe I did something wrong? Maybe I’m getting slower? I don’t know. But it is something that I want to work on more and Digital Practice brought to the surface.

As I mentioned in the beginning, this course helped me develop many skills and learn many new things. One thing that I wasn’t expecting to find out is that I have a passion for making posters. It was by far one of my favourite tasks and something I genuinely enjoyed doing. However, I did all of my posters in photoshop because I struggled a bit with Visme, and I didn’t manage to learn how to create interactive posters. That is something that I definitely want to work more on and learn how to create fun and interesting posters. I’m not sure yet whether it is what I’m going to do for Assignment 2 but I certainly have it in mind.

Overall, this course was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me but in a good way. I learned some of my strengths and weaknesses, that will help me work on them in my second assignment and the rest of the projects I have during this semester. There were parts that I didn't enjoy that much but ... knowledge is power. Before I end this post, I want to say that I’m really grateful for the support of my tutors during this hard time and thankful for making the course really engrossing and enjoyable.

Thank you for reading my post!
