My Transmedia Story - Week 6B

In order to be able to build my transmedia story, I used 4 different media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Blogger. I wanted to use even more but I'm not sure if I would be able to handle everything. I started with Twitter, which is the only platform that I actually created the profiles. As I mentioned before, I used 4 characters from the story: Red Riding Hood, the Huntsman, Red Riding Hood's mother and the Wolf.
These are the post that concernn Red Riding Hood. The following videos are from the twitter pages of the characters.
Red Riding Hood's mom's twitter page.
Huntsman's twitter page.
And last but not least, the wolf's twitter page.
Twitter: Reflection
Making the twitter pages, I'm not going to lie, took me a lot of time. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun to find all the stories and diving deeper into the characters. At this point, I'm starting to understand why it is important to present the content in different media platforms. However, I'm still not sure about this exercise so let's move on to the other platforms.
At first, in order to complete this exercise as best as possible, I thought I should make the Instagram pages for all the characters, but I found it really hard to swap from one page to the other and because I wanted to built a small past for each one of them, I decided to use Zeoob. In the Instagram pages, I posted some pictures of the village and the woods and then of some parts of their lives. I also added comments, so that we can establish the connection between them.
Starting with Red Riding Hood, similarly, with her Twitter page, she posts a picture of her village, Daggerhorn and she uses different hashtags, as she did in her twitter page. The post is seen and liked by the bad wolf and he has liked it. That indicates that he is watching her movies and what she is doing. He makes his presence apparent.
As mentioned in her twitter page, Red Riding Wood wanted to make some bread and as you can see she made it with her mother! The huntsman doesn't miss the opportunity to ask them again to save some bread for him.
Concerning the Huntsman, he makes again a post about where he is and from his next post, he seems to enjoy sharing what he likes in life. As you can see, it is from the 4th of March (in comparison with the previous posts above) and it is liked and commented by the wolf who insults the huntsman.
This post, seen by Little Red Riding Hood, is from the 6th of March, one day before the wolf meets the girl in the woods and it is the huntsman with his new crossbow, which prepares us for what is going to follow the next day.
From the 6th of March, the same day that Red Riding Hood posted, he states that he is hungry and he is the woods. The post is seen by the Huntsman, which prepares him for what will follow.
On the 7th of March, Red Riding Hood posts the basket that she is going to take to her grandmother and the Bad Wolf didn't miss the opportunity to comment on the post. Also, the post is seen by the huntsman which prepares him for what is going to follow.
A post from the wolf after he got "defeated" by the Huntsman and little Red.
And the final post from Red Riding Hood, the same as the one from twitter, after everything occurred that day. As you can see there are comments, from her mom, the huntsman but also the wolf.
Reflection: Instagram
Again, I enjoyed making the posts and using Zeoob made really easy for me. I think If I had this task again, I would certainly create an Instagram for each of the characters and try to make more content. On Instagram, we even see more of their characters and how they react as personalities.
As I mentioned in my lucid chart, I thought of making an account for each of the characters but then again I found it really hard to make accounts for all 4 of them. However, I made a some posts, again using Zeoob, that refer to the bad wolf and the situation that occurred with the wolf and red riding hood.
I was planning on making more detailed posts, but I found it really hard to come up with content because I wanted to avoid repeating everything that I have posted already on Twitter and Instagram.
Before I finish with the content that I made for this task, I want to show that I made fake tinder profiles for Red Riding Hood's mother, Agnes (I didn't make it up, this is actually her name) and the Huntsman. I have posted them on Twitter as well.
Blogger
In order to finish this task, I made a blog page for the wolf in which he uploads different recipes for different kinds of meats. The motto of the blog is: I might be a bad wolf but I'm not a bad cook.
Video Proof of the blog.
Story Promotion
Before I reflect on this task, after I finished creating the Twitter content, I came up with an idea. As you saw with the Tweets, I basically outlined the story. I didn't give much information about the story because I'm promoting my interactive story so the audience chooses what will happen at the end. But the path of the character is not promoted. So I made a poster to promote my story. I thought of using it as a teaser for the story from my previous blog and also create posters like we did in week 3. I didn't try it with all the media platforms because I was unsure if it is a clever promotion technique but also because I didn't have official pages on Instagram and Facebook. In case I have the chance to do something similar, I will definitely try it again and make it even better. Maybe creating a website? Maybe an actual interactive poster? (I made this one with Photoshop and Visme but I didn't know how to use Visme to make it interactive)
Reflection
Overall, this task was the most difficult one. It took me more than a day to finish and I believe it is not even finished. Apart from that, I'm still unsure whether I did the exercise the way we were asked to do so but I do believe I covered most parts. Thus, by the end, I totally understood what transmedia storytelling means and what you achieve if you actually decide to use it. It is incredible how successful this kind of content is and how many people it can attract. If I had the chance to do it again, or if I decide to do it as my extended task, I will definitely pay much more attention to detail and I will study different cases of transmedia storytelling so that I can learn to adjust my content based on my audience and the story that I want to support.
This task definitely taught me many things, one of which is the fact that being in the position of the content creator you have so many options but you never know when you have done enough or your content is too little. I believe that this task would be best if done in class but because of these unfortunate circumstances, it is impossible. Also, it helped me develop my skills in poster making, from Week 3 and I had the chance to use Visme, which is actually a really nice tool to use - but I need to use it a bit more to get the hang of it. Lastly, I want to state that this task should not be stated as a 60-minute exercise because it took far more than one hour. Nevertheless, it was a nice experience but I don't know if I would want to do it under these circumstances again. (I really don't enjoy online learning).
Thank you for reading! See you in my next and final post! :) :/
